[color=white]Yay! You clicked here! You shall now be informed to the very technical aspects of battle on this forum!

*Ahem*

Prepare for some interesting reading that should cover all bases, remove all confusion, and prove that the combat here is of advanced level.

*Sigh*

-/Humans\-

Ah, humans. Such fragile meat-puppets we are. Unlike other fantasy threads, humans here, at least by themselves, don't have a myriad of special powers that makes them deadly forces. Although I assume you know what humans are and their basic limitations, I will briefly go over what is and isn't allowed in a human bio and just how fragile a human is.

First of all, for the bio:
-Your human cannot have supernatural powers. No answer talker, basically.
-Only two weapons will be allowed for your human: a pocket knife, and a lighter.

And now, for the other important part:
-Humans are, by nature, rather mortal creatures, especially when compared to the Demons. If you experience a fatal wound, you will die unless treated, usually in a hospital.

This is not an all-inclusive list, but, if any of these are pierced, your character is considered dead or dying.
-The heart
-Any part of the aortic channel, from the heart to the neck
-The neck
-The cerebellum of the brain
-The liver
-The stomach
-Either lung
-Either kidney

To be honest, for basic humans, you don't need to know more than that. Now, without further adieu...

-/Demons\-

Momodo and demon are interchangeable terms.

To put it simply, there is, every one thousand years, a contest in the demon world to see who will be the next king. Despite having lifespans of thousands of years, the king is always selected from a group of one hundred demons from an age range of four to nineteen. Though maturity and knowledge wildly differs in that range, the average power of a demon in that age range is equal. After all, Zatch was only five.

Demons can take a myriad of different shapes, from small children to panthers to giant wildebeests to dragons. The consistencies between these demons are all the same:

1) They are immortal in the sense that they will live forever unless they fall to illness or are physically killed.
2) Even the worst of injuries take only a day to heal.
3) Clothes worn by demons that originated from the demon world heal with the body.
4) In the human world, they have no demonic power unless it is brought on by a human.

Now, there is one common link between the hundred demons: the books. Each demon is fated to find one human partner whose heart matches their own. Only that human will be able to read the spells that appear in the book. If the book is burned or the demon dies, the demon is returned to the other realm as a spirit and the book vanishes. The last one with a book becomes king and earns the "King's Right".

Yes, basics are over, but what about the battles? Well...

Though demons can suffer fatal injury, their stamina near-infinitely outclasses that of humans, meaning they can take a lot. Because of this, it usually comes down to the spells.

Due to the fact that this is a forum rp, each demon/human pair is allotted to start with three spells: 2 base spells and one Gigano spell. Upon the successful burning of another book or a significant plot, a demon learns a spell within their lowest open spot or one tier higher. Each demon can learn two base spells, two Gigano spells, and so forth, up to two Shin spells, for a total of fourteen possible spells.

For example, if a demon's spell set looks like such, they can learn a spell where either 'A' is, where a '/' represents a taken spell slot.

Tier 1: //
Tier 2: /A
Tier 3: A

Now, each tier will generally be twice as strong as the previous tier. If tier 1 is considered to have a generic power rating of '1'...

1: 1
2: 2
3: 4
4: 8
5: 16
6: 32
7: 64

... it would take sixty-four demons working in conjunction with a base spell to cancel one shin spell, which is fair considering that to gain a shin spell one would have had to defeat a minimum of nine demons. If ten demons did this, this would remove the other ninety demons from the contest to simply make such an occurrence possible. As you can see, it is in your best interest to be relatively active.

While I am on this tangent, though multiple characters are allowed, killing off your own demons will not result in learning a spell. We will check your IP to see if you are cross-account cheating, so don't try it.

-/Spells\-

Spells... the conduit for a demon's power. In order for an attack to be successfully launched, the following conditions must be met:

1) The spell must be said, from start to finish, within one breath and without pausing.
2) Even if only slightly cracked, the book must be open to the correct page.
3) The demon casting the spell must be able to hear the human.
4) The demon must have the ability to cast a spell (a spell that fires from the hand cannot be used if the demon has had their hands torn off).
5) Once all previous conditions are met, heart power is then spent and used on the spell.

Heart power will be considered in terms of points; a human has a max 'heart value', and, on average, will regain one heart point per post in battle, two outside of battle, and all once the topic has closed. All starting humans will have ten heart points as their maximum, and the costs for spells depends on their tiers:

1: 1
2: 2
3: 4
4: 8
5: 16
6: 32
7: 64

Yes, I copied the chart from above.

If a human zeroes out, they will remain zeroed out for three posts; the human will be unable to walk and the momodo will be forced to defend with whatever it can. However, by zeroing out, they can use up to five points over their maximum limit in whatever spell they zeroed out in.

For each battle a human fights, win or lose, provided they still have a book, their total heart power goes up. If they burn the opponent's book, the winner's heart power goes up by the opponent's total heart power; if they do not burn, it goes up by a third of the opponent's power. The loser increases their own heart power by a fourth should they conserve their book.

It is also possible and useful to train total heart power: for every 1000 characters within a training topic, a human will gain +1 to their maximum heart value, provided the writing is decent and not just repeating spam repeating spam repeating spam.

-/Spell Types\-

Attack Spells

Do I need to explain these? Direct power.

At absolute minimum, one of your base spells must be an attack spell. If you have more total attack spells than your opponent does, and each spell is of the same tier in a head-on collision, you will win the exchange provided element is not a factor.

If over half of your spells are attack spells, you are considered an attacking type.

Defense Spells

Also known as shield spells, these attacks either stop or reflect attacks. If reflection is not a concern and the shield merely blocks, the shield can take up to two attacks of an equivalent class or one attack of one higher class, and three of any lower class. If the shield rebounds attacks, the same rule applies if and only if over half of your demon's spells are shield spells (meaning you are a shield type). If not, shield spells can only rebound equal or lower spells, and can only do it once before vanishing.

In all cases it must be somehow possible to bypass your shield spell; your shield spell cannot be all inclusive and block all attack spell types.

Assist Spells

Assist spells increase the abilities of other demons, either by healing their wounds (above), increasing awareness (enlightened senses), or other such actions. If a demon is a declared assist type (having over half assist spells), and if a demon wins a battle alone such that their opponent's book is burned, a demon may learn two assist spells at once.

Healing Spells

Regenerative spells restore heart power to any one human by 1.5 its cost during the next post of the user. This is doubled if over half of your momodo's spells are assist spells. A momodo may only have a maximum of two restoring spells and may only use one per battle. These spells are considered typeless, and do not factor in to your momodo's type.

Physical healing spells are considered assist spells; they restore physical stamina as well as aiding in the healing of minor wounds. The higher the class, the faster and greater the healing effect.

Body Spells

Body spells increase the physical abilities of the demon casting it in some way, whether it be increasing senses, physical strength, or the creation of a carapace or some form of permanent armor that is not a shield spell. While using a body spell, a demon cannot cast another type of spell save for a body spell of the same type and of a higher class. After the first casting of a spell, if a demon is a body type (having over half body spells), the duration of a body spell lasts for four posts after the last casting; for all others, the body spell may only last up to two posts.

Curse Spells

Curse spells are conditional spells that can only be cast on humans and have delayed effects, usually showing up a day after the casting. Curses are lifted if the caster is killed or the caster's book is burned, but have many psuedo-permanent effects, including limiting heart power by up to half or mind control (Mind control is meant for un-partnered humans). If a demon is a curse type, having over half curse spells, the ability "the inflicted will die after X time", where "X" is a time equal to or greater than three full days, is allowed for a curse spell.

All curse spells must have a reachable condition that will break the curse; the intent of the curse spell should not be to kill, but to reach a greater goal in the end.

-/Spell Elements\-

Moving right along... all of a demon's spells must adhere to a theme or an element, such as lightning, fire, water, and so forth. It is your job to utilize the element you choose in such a way that it can overcome any situation through your spells, even to those that it would usually have a weakness to.

By 'theme or element', I am not restricting you to the simple 'water, grass, ect.' monotype. For example, Cherish was that of a 'mirror' type, and Umagon was a 'speed' body type.

With that out of the way... the following elements or themes are banned:

Gravity
Time and Space
Annihilation
Dimensional Travel/Teleporting

So, I'm sorry if you're a Brago, Momon, Clear Note, or Gomu fan, but, in rp setting, these abilities are hell to moderate and impossibly easy to abuse. Hence, no, no, no, and definitely not.

Thanks for reading, you're well on your way to joining this fight!
